As you may be aware, the first 3 months of my time at Gillissa involved studying intensely for my Google Adwords exam; spending a significant percentage of my day with either my head in a book, or with headphones on listening to the multimedia learning option provided within the Adwords learning centre.
Having taken the practice examination on numerous occasions and achieving ever-increasing marks, I was feeling fairly confident about my forthcoming exam.
However, this confidence soon disappeared.
Up there with the classic tales of hard luck and misfortune, Google saw fit to completely alter the structure of their professional exam, a solitary week before I was due to sit the exam.
What used to be one exam with a pass rate of 75% became FOUR exams, with the first test, titled ‘Google Adwords Fundamentals Exam’ having a pass rate of 85%.
If this was not enough, I noticed that the quiz section within the learning centre had disappeared entirely, meaning right before the exam I had lost a significant form of revision.
Furthermore, the exam material seemed far more complicated than what it appeared previously.
With the introduction of four exams, 3 of which are at advanced level, it seems that Google have tried to make the tests more difficult, to make becoming a Google Qualified Individual more elitist.
After taking the Google Adwords Fundamentals Exam, which definitely was more difficult than any questions that appeared within the practice quiz sections, I somehow managed to achieve 90%, thus becoming a Google Qualified Individual!
